IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) is the departmental entity within ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) that oversees coordination of global IP address allocation, DNS root zone management, protocol name and number registries, and other Internet protocol assignments. Some NENA documents may use IANA Protocol Registries following the processes described in RFC 8126.
