LVF (Location Validation Function) is a functional element in an NGCS (Next Generation 9-1-1 Core Services) that is a LoST protocol server where civic location information is validated against the authoritative GIS database information. A civic address is considered valid if it can be located within the database uniquely, is suitable to provide an accurate route for an emergency call, and adequate and specific enough to direct responders to the right location.
