Certificate Authority

A trusted entity that issues digital certificates. The Certificate Authority conducts a vetting process to ensure that the holder of the digital certificate is who they claim to be. Digital certificates are an essential part of secure communication and play an important part in the PKI (Public Key Infrastructure).
